Erik Minzner

Painting the subtleties of nature's light, air, and color is what inspires Erik Minzner . On any given day, regardless of the weather, he may be found painting "en plein air" in his native New England. The artist has lived in or traveled extensively throughout the country, and thus, has a tremendous appreciation for what New England offers the artist. Although the artist will travel on occasion to paint, he plans to spend his lifetime trying to capture New England's seascapes, farms, fields, and mountains for fear that one day it will all be "one giant suburbia. Erik is a graduate of Eastern Nazarene College, has studied with several prominent artists, and attended Heartwood College of Art. But, Minzner often says that if he is to one day be considered a great artist, it is because of those who have come before him. Thus, he is inspired by the schools of artwork known as American Realism, the Cape Ann School, and Impressionism. Minzner admits that he studies so much art that he sometimes forgets to paint himself. He also finds motivation in the writings of Frost, Emerson, Hemmingway, and Thorough, as well as, music both classical and contemporary.
