Paul Carter Goodnow was born in Providence Rhode Island in 1958. A painter, carver and gilder, Paul studied gilding in Boston with Nils Johnson and took classes in oil painting in Providence at The Rhode Island School of Design and Providence Art Club and later with John Loughlin. Paul is an elected artist member of the following associations: The Rockport Art Association in Rockport Massachusetts, The Lyme Art Association in Old Lyme, Connecticut and The North Shore Art Association in Gloucester Massachusetts. He is also a member of the Connecticut Plein Air Painters Society. Paul has won several awards for his oil paintings. His paintings and hand-carved, gold-leafed frames hang in many collections. He regularly participates in shows throughout New England and New York. "Being an artist in New England there is so much to capture, from the streets of Rockport, Nantucket, Providence and Bronxville, New York to the fields and farms of Connecticut, New Hampshire and Vermont. Then there are the shorelines of Maine, Cape Cod, all up and down the East Coast ,it all makes it impossible to run out of inspiration. If somehow you even could, the season changes and it is new all over again .The challenge becomes capturing nature in all its beauty and giving it your own personality.
